I’m a lover of the springtime. Anyone who reads my blogs knows this. As an Austin maternity photographer, I love the way that springtime absolutely gushes out of every inch of the landscape. Springtime photos in the greater Austin area are all about wildflowers, greenery, and new beginnings. This makes it the perfect time for maternity photos.
As we get closer to summer and the hottest parts of the year, I wanted to revisit springtime. Here are some highlights from a springtime maternity photoshoot with Yesha and Dave. They’ve since had their baby (photos to come), but these are some truly magical shots.
Okay, so it’s not technically in Austin, but Brushy Creek Sports Park in Cedar Park is one of my favorite locations for taking photos. It’s busy, but there are so many secret spots in the park for perfect photos.
Yesha carefully coordinated her own maternity dresses with me to create the perfect contrast in photo locations. This sky-blue maternity gown was especially beautiful, and went well with the landscape (which, during this photoshoot, was still recovering from Snowpocalypse ’21). She also had a cream-colored boho maternity dress which looked gorgeous in black and white photos.
Yesha and Dave were expecting their little boy in these pictures. The blue maternity gown also went along nicely with her maternity photos. Yesha’s delivery came and went smoothly, bringing in their bouncing baby boy. A few weeks after I took these maternity photos, I got to take their son’s newborn photos. I always feel blessed when my clients allow me to participate in their pregnancy and parenting stories with them.
One of Yesha’s requests for her maternity photos was that they include wildflowers. I wanted to oblige, but I was nervous about this request this spring.
As an Austin maternity photographer, I have a tough job. I always want to make my clients as happy as possible with the outcome of their photos. Many of my clients want to incorporate wildflowers in their photos. It’s honestly a hallmark of Texas springtime photography. I never want to disappoint, but I can’t control whether the flowers bloom or not. I was a little worried, especially shooting this maternity session so close to the March freeze…
Luckily, we found some truly amazing wildflowers! I managed to snap these magical springtime photos in dry creek bed. It was lush, green, and blooming with little yellow flowers.
We even managed to find some Texas Bluebonnets. Because it’s not a springtime photo if it doesn’t have a patch of bluebonnets in it.
What I liked about Yesha’s maternity photos was how serene they came out.
It’s clear from these photos that Yesha and Dave are head over heels in love. Most importantly, it is clear they’re happy. Looking at these after having taken their newborn photos, it’s beautiful to see just how excited they were to meet their son in only a few weeks. I managed to snap this photo of them on this bridge with their son-to-be cradled in an embrace. This picture, to me, is a symbol of their new journey into parenthood.
I wanted to thank Yesha for including me in her pregnancy journey. From these springtime maternity photos to her dear little newborn photos, getting to know her and her family was an amazing experience.
Springtime may be in the past, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad time for maternity photos! Brushy Creek Sports Park offers some great spots by the water for cool breezes and good photo ops. Ready to get your maternity photos taken? let’s chat!
