Springtime is over, which means we’re seeing a lot less of springtime chicks, ducklings, and bunnies. But in the Cedar Park newborn photography studio, we’re still seeing a ton of babies even as summer is rearing its head! This session was too cute and had a really fun spring vibe to it with the color scheme they requested for this little one. This session also included some fun local artwork as props, which I’ll go a little more into later!
The little cutie featured above is Miss Madelyn, the sweetest kiddo with some of the cutest expressions. And let’s just take a moment to talk about the defining feature of Miss Madelyn’s photo session – hair!
Newborns sometimes surprise us with their hair. It might be darker or lighter than expected, a completely different color or texture from mom or dad’s, or a surprising texture. Madelyn’s hair was so soft and spiky! I just couldn’t get over how cute it was.
Because Madelyn’s hair was so unique, we tried to get a few with and without headbands. As you can see in the photos above, the right accessory can make a big difference! Madelyn looks precious with and without the headband. However, the headband gives the photo a more classic newborn photo feel, whereas no headband gives the photo an all-natural feel.
We utilized so many props during this newborn session. Madelyn got to try out two different prop beds for this session! We used the brass bed with pink fabrics and accents, because pink complements that gold color so well. I love how sleepy she looks in these photos.
We also used a small brown prop bed with a white rose headband and white accents. As you can see, miss Madelyn was a little less sleepy in these photos. The tulips used here are handmade by a local artist out of Austin called Paperly Petals.
How do I come up with session ideas for my little ones? I usually have parents fill out a session questionnaire ahead of time to let me know what colors they want to use during the session and we work with their ideas. This time, Madelyn’s mom, Alyssa, chose greens, mauve, soft pinks, cream.
This beautiful range of colors allowed us to really diversify Madelyn’s photo session.
Snuggles With Mom & Dad
At Hello Photography, we like to end our studio newborn photo sessions with family. So, toward the last part of Madelyn’s session we added Madelyn’s parents into the pictures! These sets came out so cute. They’re such a loving family!
We gussied Madelyn up in a dusty blue swaddle, which stood out nicely against her parents’ black outfits well. First, we started out with both parents in the picture, and then moved on to solo portraits with each parent.
Both Alyssa and her husband had photos taken in color and black and white. The way Madelyn snuggles into Alyssa’s kiss in the bottom set of photos above is too sweet.
And speaking of sweet: these photos of Madelyn with her dad made my heart melt. Whether nose to nose or just being held in dad’s arms, its clear how proud he is (they both are!) of their little one.
Hopefully, these fresh-faced parents will be able to get a moment’s rest with their little bundle of joy. She certainly rested well in her photos!
