When it comes to keeping it classy, no one does it better than Arielle and Uzziah. Not only are they such a beautiful and kind couple, they bring their A-game to every detail of the photoshoot, including making their own traditional outfits! I had done Arielle’s first maternity photoshoot, and now little Uzziah Jr. got to join his mom and dad in the studio to celebrate the upcoming arrival of his new sibling. Check out these high end maternity photos of Arielle, Uzziah, and Uzziah Jr. from just a few weeks ago!
Meet the family of the hour — Arielle, Uzziah, and Uzziah, Jr. This beautiful family came dressed to the nines for their photoshoot, including a formal jacket for the little one!

Uzziah, Jr. did not disappoint in these family-oriented photos. He has such an expressive face, and he was so fun to work with in the studio.

Whether he was hanging out with mom….

With mom AND dad…

Or by himself, this guy had charisma that just worked for the camera. And he sure was excited to be a big brother! Of course, it’s hard not to be a charismatic baby when you have Arielle and Uzziah as parents!

The couple had a few simple themes picked out for this photoshoot, starting out with an all-black ensemble. As you know, I aim for a timeless feel in my studio sessions. Having all-black outfits can help achieve that! Especially in black and white photoshoots, having classic, simple clothes can be a boon. It really helps shadows and highlights pop (even after post-production!)

But simple choices don’t mean boring!

Arielle had amazing little details picked up for this session. One of my favorite details was her nails! They were so pretty and really popped against her dress. She also had some other detailed wardrobe surprises up her sleeve!
During her last maternity session, Arielle hand-made these outfits for her session, working religious tassels onto traditional garb. It’s these personal touches that make photography so rewarding to me. Details like this tell the story of the family, and it is so fun to see how different (and alike) we all are based on our personal choices.

I know I talk up black clothes for studio sessions a lot, but this detailed gold clothing is so stunning. I used a coffee colored background to compliment the gold, and I think it really brought out little details on the clothing itself.

I also enjoyed how subtle Uzziah Jr.’s outfit was. He’s got a big personality, which in itself is golden.

I try to re-focus family maternity sessions by makings sure that mom get lots of solo photography time. We did photos in her beautiful black ensemble as well as the gold ensemble.

Arielle was wonderful to work with. She took direction and posed naturally in a way that both captured her natural beauty and the pregnancy well. We did side and front portraits.

For black and white portraits, we focused on an emotional range, from bliss to contemplation.

I have two personal favorites from Arielle’s solo session. One is the side profile above, featuring Arielle’s draped pearl necklace. It’s just so pretty! And I love the way the shadows and highlights turned out in it.
However, my favorite solo piece from this photoshoot was this one below. I just really think that it captures the full depth of Arielle’s personality — classy, but also fun and charming. I love the way the blue chiffon and her red nails pop in this!

Thanks to this wonderful family for continuing to let me share their story through photos.
