First Birthday Photo Session in Austin, Texas
Happy Birthday, Baby Olivia! I’ve had the privilege of photographing this adorable little girl 3 different times over the last year. Actually, 4 times if you count her momma’s maternity session!
I know this time went by very quickly for her mom but I know she’s so happy to have some great photos to look back on her journey to her first birthday! It was so awesome to see her grow from being in her momma’s belly to her newborn session and then again at a family session when she was about 3 months old.
I was so excited when Kelsi reached out to me about doing first birthday photos and she wanted it to be a mermaid theme! Yes, yes, yes- I am all in! Of course, that was my answer! I created this setup from an inspiration picture she sent me and added in a few of my own touches. Growing up in Connecticut, I spent many days at the beach with my parents and over the years we have collected an assortment of treasures- shells, starfish, sand dollars, beach glass, coral- you name it, my mom probably has it at her house!
I was so excited about the theme that I had to tell my mom all about it… and a few weeks later, 2 boxes showed up on my doorstep full of treasures from all of our time exploring the beach throughout my lifetime. It was PERFECT and it was really great to incorporate some personal touches. And the bonus- now I have some sea decor for my house, which desperately needs decorating!
Here’s what I came up with for this first birthday photo session:
The cake came from Hayley’s Cakes and Cookies and it was PERFECT!
And then the Little Mermaid found her little legs and said she was DONE!
We topped off the session with this fabulous little tub and had a little splash session. I think this was her favorite part because she was all smiles!
I loved this session so much, especially the mermaid theme! I *might* have a big milestone birthday coming up myself in just a couple of weeks so there might be another mermaid cake making an appearance around here soon. 🙂
