Here are a few suggested location ideas for your outdoor maternity session that many clients love! Please don't feel limited to these as I am always open to new location ideas. Click on each location to see photos from each location as well as a detailed description of each area.
Located in Cedar Park, TX
One of many parks along Brushy Creek in Cedar Park, Texas. I love this park because it has a lot of variety without having to walk very far from the parking area. There is a small creek with a railroad bridge in the background, a walking bridge, beautiful evening and morning light, and some nice open wooded areas.
Cons: There are always people in this park. Lots of photographers use this park for photos and there are always runners and bike riders along the trail as well as people enjoying all of the parks amenities.
Located in Bertram, Texas
This is one of my favorite parks for maternity photos. There are many entrances to the Canyonlands and I like the Bertram entrance the best because of the rolling hills, and tall grasses, and sometimes there is water in the creek depending on if we've had a lot of rain recently. This location is perfect for both morning and evening sessions and is also a relatively short walk from the parking area. It is usually pretty quiet with just a few people hiking while I've been there for sessions.
CONS: They do not allow any pets at this location as it is a bird sanctuary.

Richard Moya Park
Richard Moya Park is located out near the back of the Austin airport. This location usually isn't very crowded and it's a pretty large park. It has beautiful pecan trees, an old historical bridge that nobody can drive on, and a creek with some great shallow spots perfect for photos.
CONS: The creek isn't always available. Sometimes it is too overgrown and impossible to get to. If we are in a drought then there isn't any water in the shallow spots and tall weeds grow where the water used to be. If we've had a lot of rain, there aren't any shallow spots to use at all. Other than that- the rest of the grounds are absolutely beautiful and that bridge at sunset is stunning.

Twin Creeks historical park
This location in Cedar Park is a park and walk spot. It is about a 10-15 minute walk down a paved driveway that you can't drive on. If you are bringing littles to the session it is highly recommended that you bring a wagon or a stroller for them. I love this location for both morning and evening sessions because the light is beautiful, there are some beautiful stone walls and stairs, and some really beautiful old rickety trees. This location is gorgeous anytime of year but has beautiful colors during the fall season and you can usually catch some pretty wildflowers later into the season.
CONS: The walk can be tiring if you're not up for it.

Downtown Austin
If you want a lot of variety in a small area then downtown is the spot for you! I usually have clients park in the Trader Joe's parking lot and we'll meet upstairs on the lawn and start around the old power plant and make our way over to the Austin Library area. This location is great for morning or evening sessions and winter sessions when there aren't any leaves on the trees anymore. There are some incredible architectural details and leading lines in this area!
CONS: There are always people in the area and all the things that come with being downtown- homeless people, bike riders, walkers, etc.

located in east austin, texas
The Sekrit Theater is an iconic Austin photoshoot location that is absolutely beautiful. It has a gorgeous sunken greenhouse with a checkerboard fl oor and has incredible leafy vines that grow all over the outside. Not only do you get to use the amazing greenhouse but you get to use the entire property for the duration of your session. There is a changing area and a bathroom on site as well! Because of the sunken greenhouse area you can shoot a little later in the morning and earlier in the evening than you normally would for an outdoor session
CON: This location charges a fee of $130/hr for non-golden hour sessions. You do get the whole place to yourself for the hour so it is nice to not have other people in the area.
