Maternity photos are a whole wonderful experience. They were one of the primary motivators behind my decision to work as a professional photographer, and I love when I can make the experience about more than just the photos themselves. For these Cedar Park maternity photos, I was pleased to help Lauren and Dalton enjoy the experience with their extended family. I don’t always have a lot of family members attend maternity photoshoots, but when I do, it’s always fun.

Late Summer Cedar Park Maternity Photos
Summer is winding down, which made for some beautifully sunny, warm-looking photos.
Lauren is the mom-t0-be in this photoshoot, and her husband is Dalton. It was essential that they include their dogs in some of the maternity photos because they have been members of their families for so long. And good thing they did because a few days after this photo session, they had to put one of their beloved dogs down. I know this is a difficult transition for them and I know how much they wanted both dogs to meet baby Eliza when she makes her big debut.
Dads like Dalton are often my go-tos for maternity photo staging. I’ll have them help their partners across streams, throw dress trains, and more. Of course, I like to include them in a few maternity shots as well. It’s hard to do this when you need someone to hang out with the dogs.
So, to help them out, they brought along Lauren’s mom and grandma. That extra help during the maternity photoshoot helped the couple get in some cute shots together, including one of my personal favorites — baby bump comparisons.
Hair & Makeup
I’ve said this before — All the women I photograph are beautiful.
However, many of the moms I photograph make their maternity session a full-day affair by booking themselves a spa day. Lauren got her hair, and her makeup was done by Betty at Salt and Waves Salon in Leander before the photoshoot. She’s already a gorgeous woman, but the subtle and natural-looking contouring and up-do brought out her natural glow.
Whether you’re all about the makeup or you feel more beautiful without it, I’ll make sure you look and feel beautiful on your big day (because you are!).
Lauren brought her own unique maternity gown, but that’s not necessary. I have my selection of maternity gowns available to my clients, including white and pink gowns like Lauren’s. You can check them out HERE.

Lauren is a dream client — she was so friendly and sweet. She and Dalton were completely ready and willing to work with me on out-of-the-ordinary shots and traditional shots alike. But I wasn’t expecting the response I got from her when I sent her final gallery:
