You all might remember Karly from a few weeks ago. She ran into some trouble with other Austin maternity photographers and came to me after her other booked session fell through. I was more than happy to help her, especially since she let me try out a few maternity photo techniques I had yet to use during other maternity portrait sessions.
Karly has since had her baby, and I was pleased to meet both Karly’s husband, Carlos, and baby Luna! It was a privilege to finally get the whole family in my photography studio to take some pictures together.
This was a lively session.
For one, we had to work with Carlos’ busy post-snowpocalypse schedule. Carlos is a plumber, and anyone who lives here in Texas knows that plumbers, handymen, and electricians have had a lot of extra work cut out for them over the past few weeks after the February storms.
Miss Luna was also keeping us busy!
She might look sleepy in this photo, but she was awake, active, and adorable throughout the newborn photography session. Mom and dad gave her lots of feeding, soothing, and snuggles to make sure she was happy. I did my part by keeping the room nice and warm to make sure she was comfortable.
The results? One very precious baby Luna for her Austin studio newborn photos.
Karly definitely wanted to show off Luna in all the cutest ways possible, and I had the props to get the job done!
One of my newest newborn photo props was this precious gold bed. One of the things I love about this set of photos is the farmhouse aesthetics of the wood and the textured pink bedspread with the glitz and glamor of the gold bed frame. It was the perfect mix of rustic and urban for this beautiful baby girl!
Props aside, I managed to get some of the sweetest photos of Luna with her mom and dad during these austin studio newborn photos.
True to her session before, Karly was absolutely stunning and photographed so well in these black and white photos. The pure love she has for Luna radiated out of these newborn photos.
It’s also clear that Carlos was head over heels for the newest little lady in his life. I love these photos of Luna cradled in her dad’s hands. She looks so small up against Carlos, but so protected!
When she wasn’t hanging out in Karly and Carlos’ arms, Baby Luna was all about the pink. Karly loves pink, and who can blame her? This precious color made Baby Luna look absolutely precious. To liven up the shots of Luna where the color pink was the theme, I worked with texture. Here we snuggled Luna up in a lovely knit, a sheepskin, and some lace. Her smooth, precious baby face and tuft of black hair poked out through the top for some truly angelic shots.
Another beloved newborn prop also helped Luna shine in her newborn photos. Karly wanted a little bit of bling for Luna, so we incorporated my tiny crown into the shots. After all, Luna is a sweet little princess.
Working with Karly, Carlos, and Luna was a treat. It always makes newborn photos a little more sweet and special when the family is involved and present in them, and it’s clear as day that the love in this little family is one of a kind.
Welcome to the world, little Luna!
