There’s nothing more quintessential to Austin Photography than Texas Bluebonnet photos. When Christie and Justin came to me with a springtime maternity photoshoot request, I secretly hoped that we’d run into some bluebonnets. Nature did not disappoint, and Christie picked out this stunning floral dress to compliment Texas’ most stunning wildflower. Check out this throw-back maternity photoshoot featuring our favorite spring flower. It’s a reminder that even though winter is close, spring is just around the corner!
Oh man. If you’re looking for the creme de la creme for springtime photos, Austin sure doesn’t disappoint. To this day, this is one of my most favorite locations for maternity photos! I like offering my clients scenic variety during their session. This location has it all- Woods, water, field, wildflowers. You really cannot go wrong here.
Plus, it helps to have someone beautiful to photograph. I took these gorgeous photos of Christie back before I had an extensive maternity wardrobe. That didn’t matter too much, though! She had this stunning blue floral dress picked out for the occasion.
Fun fact about this photoshoot: I like to bring two cameras to water-facing maternity photo sessions. So much can go wrong, even for the most careful of people. I try to avoid any mishaps, like possibly dropping a lens into the water, by being prepared. To double prepare for his session, I had my cameras attached to two different straps! I unfortunately kept strangling myself. But, as you might have guessed by the fact that I am updating this blog, I survived this ordeal.
For this photo session, we started out at the creek for those stunning water photos you saw.
On our way back from the creek we stumbled upon this incredible field of bluebonnets. This Texas must-see was not even planned, it was just a happy accident. Normally you don’t find these out in the woods, but there they were, as if they were waiting for us.
These two were absolutely adorable together! I just couldn’t believe how well these photos came out. It’s nice to reflect on my older sessions years later. I’m still pleased by the little things the area has to offer: a nice spring day, clear, crisp mornings, and our unmistakable flowers.
I could feel the love between them and for this little boy they are having, who at the time of this writing is now a few years old! Time flies.
One of the things I love about this maternity set is how whimsical this family is. They even got married in Disneyland! Talk about an epic, magical destination wedding. I know their little guy is having so much fun with them as he grows.
