If you know me, you know how much I absolutely love my secret spots for maternity pictures. Every Austin maternity photographer has them.
I have a favorite spot along Bull Creek and I love it so much that I won’t even disclose to you, dear reader, where it is. Unfortunately, someone else must have caught on to how great this spot is. It was full of people listening to loud music, partying, swimming, and enjoying the space the night of this outdoor maternity session. I’ve never seen anything like that down there before!
Fortunately for this maternity package, we were able to work around the disturbances… though, I had to delete a few party-goers from their photos (take a peek at the video at the end of this post!)
Rebecca’s Maternity Pictures
Rebecca & Josh were some seriously cool people, and it was nice that they were so easygoing about the party-goers at the photography location. They came equipped with tons of adventure stories. They even spent a few months hiking the Appalachian Trail before tying the knot, which is both romantic and extremely adventurous!
A lot of maternity photo sessions take place outside. However, it really made sense for this couple to do theirs outdoors. You can see in their photo sessions that they fit in with nature like it’s their second home. They’re also Texans through and through, as can be seen by the inclusion of their baby cowboy boots in the photo above.
During her maternity photoshoot, Rebecca wore two different gowns — one prairie-style white maternity gown and one red velvet maternity gown (which came from my closet). They both fit her personality to a T in different ways. She was both glamourous and down-to-earth. And no matter what she was wearing, it was clear that being outside was where these two were happiest.
Summer Showers Fiasco
Rebecca, Josh, and I have one thing in common — we love to travel. Because of this, we had to push Rebecca’s maternity pictures out for a little bit to accommodate both of our summer travel schedules. I was a little worried, because it meant pushing out her photos closer to her due date. But when it came down to it, we also had horrendous rain during July, which wouldn’t have been suitable for an outdoor maternity photoshoot.
Luckily, the weather during our final shoot was gorgeous, as seen in the photos above. Taking a walk through the park on the day of the photoshoot meant not having to deal with the rain or the super hot summer weather.
It did, unfortunately, mean putting up with some unwelcome photo cameos. But we could make do with that. The lighting also made for some heavenly shots, perfect for dreamy reflections in the water and beautiful contrast.
First Maternity Pictures, Then Newborn Pictures!
Rebecca, Josh, & I got along so well. It was a pleasure to meet them. The ability to swap stories about travel and adventure with people can be so refreshing, especially after not being able to travel for quite some time in 2020. Their laughter and love were infectious, and I’m pleased to say it didn’t go away with the arrival of their little cowboy a few months later.
Because I took these Austin maternity photos during July, I’m pleased to announce the recent arrival of baby Wyatt!
Rebecca & Josh are just as in love now that Wyatt is here as they clearly were in these pictures. Now, they have someone new to share their adventures with and pass on their love of the outdoors to. I’ll share their newborn session later on this month. Congrats, you two!
