It’s been a moment since I last posted a maternity session, so I wanted to start the new year out right with a sweet maternity session I recently did. For Rebekah’s maternity session, we took both black and white maternity photos and full color maternity photos in front of neutral settings. Rebekah’s partner, Luke, also got involved in the photo process. They were a lovely couple to work with, and I am so pleased to have worked with them in the studio. Here’s a little bit more about Rebekah’s maternity session!
Rebekah and Luke came to my Cedar Park studio looking for a local maternity photographer. They were getting ready to welcome their little one, so our aim for this session was to capture the magic of her pregnancy.
Lots of people helped make this day special for Rebekah. A big shout out to BettyBeaute, who provided hair and makeup services to Rebekah before the shoot. Betty has helped many of my clients before, and she always does an excellent job! With the help of Betty, my camera and studio, and Rebekah’s absolutely stunning smile, Rebekah lit up my Cedar Park studio.
We opted for a neutral colors throughout this photo shoot. Neutral palettes give maternity sessions a timeless feel that translates through decades. Bronzes, grays, creams, whites, and blacks were the focus.
Additionally, I did a lot of work with stark lighting. Drastic lighting enhances contrast in photos, which translates well in both black and white maternity photos and color.
It is always really nice when I get to do a maternity session with couples and they both participate. Luke showed up for Rebekah and their little one this time! He dressed nicely to complement her outfit choices, and it was really just all-around classy. These photos showed how clearly devoted they are to one another. I hope that as well as serving as a reminder of this very exciting time in their relationship, these photos can also just remind them about the beauty of their relationship.
Pregnancy can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming! Having mementos to look back on that remind you of how strong, happy, and resilient you were (and are!) is just as important to soon-to-be parents.
But if these photos say anything, it’s that these two can tackle the ups and downs of parenthood together!
I enjoyed taking all the photos in Rebekah’s maternity series. However, the black and white photos from her session really stood out to me.
Rebekah’s choice of a simple color palette brought out rich, deep shadows. These shadows added to the overall feel of the photos — when the shots were moody, the shadows made them feel moodier. When they were wistful, like the one below, they made them seem a bit more wistful. The bright lighting also brought out Rebekah’s features, like her beautiful eyes!
I particularly love these “artsy” shots. Rebekah seems so at peace in these photos, it’s hard not to feel at peace with her.
Here’s wishing Rebekah a very peaceful remainder of her maternity, and many wonderful memories with her new family member to come!
