Austin Child Photography | Newborn Baby Beau

Sweet baby Beau! What a beautiful session this was. Not only did I get some gorgeous shots in of this little guy, but I also got some photos of his older brothers! Austin child photography doesn’t always include newborns, but I think it’s really important to get siblings into pictures together. It helps capture treasured memories for kids when their adults as well as for their parents. Plus, it can be a lot of fun — Bradley & Stetson (Beau’s brothers) were sweet as can be and a great help throughout the newborn photoshoot.

Beau’s parents came to me with ideas for his newborn photo session. The angel wings (featured below) appeared in Stetson & Bradley’s newborn photos and made another appearance in Beau’s newborn photo session. I’m pleased with the way these newborn photos came out. Beau does look like a tiny angel.

Austin Child Photography: Baby Beau & Brothers

The angel at the center of this photoshoot, Beau, was 13 days old in these pictures. He was a tiny little guy, and so expressive! His expressions made for great portrait shots like the one below. Beau’s sleepy face added to the photos with his angel wings. However, I have to say that I particularly adore his smile and nose wrinkle in the last of these three photos. Babies aren’t always quiet, perfect little angels, but they still manage to charm their way into our hearts for eternity.

The family made my job easy and fun by color-coordinating their outfits and wearing neutral colors. Their neutral shirts and Beau’s sweet little complexion allowed me to play with lighting and texture throughout the photoshoot. I especially love the way this family portrait came out. Everyone’s smiles look so bright, the shading isn’t too dramatic, and there’s a twinkle in every eye.

Sometimes in family photos & newborn photos, less is more. Overdoing it with patterns, colors, and props can take away from the focus of a picture — in this case, sweet baby Beau. I used a light palette comprised of beiges, off-whites, and soft whites to compliment Beau’s complexion. My Cedar Park photography studio has plenty of props in neutral tones, which helped showcase Beau’s sweet face, little fingers, and tiny feet.

Texture and lighting also played a considerable role in the composition of these pictures. I used shadows as a gradient in many of the black and white newborn photos featured here. Then, I used textures to add a little bit of variety to the background of the photos. A good knit baby blanket can do wonders, but I also love the wood backdrop’s grainy texture and the several sheepskin throws I use in my baby portraits.

Plus, all these items put together make babies look extra snuggly. That’s a plus in my book!

Brothers To The Rescue!

What would I do without Bradley and Stetson in these photos? The solo photos of Beau are very sweet, but I have a soft spot for the family photos featuring Bradley and Stetson. They were just so cute and helpful with Beau throughout the session.

Bradley & Stetson also made taking the full family photos a hoot. They had that infectious little boy energy, but were still so sweet and well-behaved. If it isn’t clear from these newborn photos, they also love their little brother. Quite a few times they made silly faces at him in an attempt to make him (and his parents) smile. If it didn’t work on him, it wasn’t lost on me or his family. They’re obviously having a great time in these photos.

As always, it’s a privilege to get to shoot Austin child photography — both newborn photography and child photography. Wishing the best to this beautiful family as they settle into life with Beau!

Didn’t summer just start?

It’s hard to believe that school is around the corner, which means school portraits and family picture time is also just around the corner. If you’ve been on the hunt for an Austin child photographer, I can help. I’m still booking fall portrait sessions, but I won’t have room in my calendar for long. Book now to get yours!
