A Tiny Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Erica + Kevin and their tiny wedding…

When your original wedding date falls during the middle of a pandemic you just have to roll with it.  It is terrible that you have to change the plans that you’ve been dreaming about for months. It gets even worse when the gorgeous ballgown you picked out is stuck in quarantine at the seamstress’s house and the custom suit you designed can’t be finished. What about having a tiny wedding?

This is exactly what happened to Erica and Kevin, who were supposed to have an intimate courthouse wedding followed by a small dinner with family and friends at a local restaurant in Austin, Texas.  She had picked out the most amazing dress at Blue Bridal. Trust me, I was there- It’s AH.MAZE.ING. While their plans seemed completely derailed and they were absolutely crushed, they decided to focus on the one thing that mattered the most- their love for one another and joining their two families together to become the family of 4 that they had been dreaming about for months.

They really wanted to keep their original wedding date and since it was quickly approaching they decided to go for it and have a tiny wedding. Erica rush ordered a simple white sundress from Lulus and Kevin wore slacks and a coordinating button-down.  Luckily, flower shops and bakeries were still open so she was able to order a bouquet and a boutonniere from Le Fleur Flower Market and a small cake from Hayley’s Cakes. The kiddos looked adorable in their jeans and matching white button-up shirts.

When she first told me the news they were thinking they’d just get married in their backyard.  We were still under quarantine restrictions but parks were still open so we threw a few ideas back and forth. I just happened to have this quiet 250-acre green space that is pretty much in my backyard so they opted for that instead.  It was beautiful and open and there wouldn’t be a bunch of people walking by. It was going to be perfect.

We met just before sunset and walked down to the location with a small table, an iPad, and the flowers in my little wagon.  We found a perfect spot along a little dirt road surrounded by trees and wildflowers for their ceremony.  They set up the table and turned on the iPad to get a zoom meeting going with their parents and Erica’s brother, who officiated the ceremony.

Okay, okay! I’ll stop telling you all about it- take a look for yourself! 🙂
